Discover, Design, Deliver

How I work

Discover. Design. Deliver.

Discovery first. I start with the people who own the process and write the requirement in their words before any architecture is drawn.

Steady under pressure. Led the IT and data side of a refinery crisis response, with the systems the operation ran on working within days.

Full-cycle ownership. From architecture to deployment and user adoption, I own the outcome, not just the deliverable.

Human-first design. Every interface I build prioritizes clarity and empathy, turning complex workflows into tools people genuinely enjoy using, with optimized and efficient flows.

About me

Every system I have built started with someone doing a job the hard way. An HR operator rebuilding a PowerPoint every month. A refinery reporting by spreadsheet. A crisis response with no system at all. The habit is the same each time: sit with the person, understand the job properly, build the smallest thing that works, and make it the way the job gets done from then on. The first working version is in their hands within days, and every version after it comes from watching what they do with the last one.

Ten years of that habit, from a university's only technical person to the platforms of a national foundation, taught me where the difference lies between a system that is used and one that is tolerated. It is in the flow. Every screen answers what to do next. A step that does not earn its place gets removed. A decision the tool can make for the user, it makes. Done well, the work feels lighter, and people open the tool because they want to, not because they were told to. That is what I mean by a system people love to use, and it is the only result I count.

Pressure does not change the method. It removes the excuses. When there is no time for a roadmap, the smallest thing that works goes in first and the loop runs faster, which is how a crisis response ended up with a working system in about a month. The same habit runs in quieter places: a meeting that loses three hours, a process that loses a step every time I touch it, a broken part measured and printed instead of replaced. Continuous improvement is a habit, not a program.

I am looking for a solutions architect role with an integrator or a vendor, where the job is doing this for customers. The parts I want are the ones I already do: discovery with the people who own the process, the design, the demo, and a build I can hand to a team.

The one I would tell first

Balongan, 2021

A refinery fire, damaged houses across the surrounding villages, and compensation that had to be right the first time. One platform carried it from the first field photo to the state audit.

One platform, from field photo to audit

  1. 1 Field photo and description
  2. 2 PUPR and Pegadaian assessment
  3. 3 Compensation computed
  4. 4 Berita acara and kuitansi
  5. 5 Bank file
  6. 6 Progress and audit export

The Balongan refinery fire damaged houses across the surrounding villages. The response had to record every damaged property, have it assessed, agree the compensation, pay it, and later prove every rupiah to the insurers and the state auditor. There was no system for any of it. I was brought in as the data, system, and infrastructure lead. The platform took about a month to build, and the year after it was insurance and paperwork, all carried on the same records.

What I chose

  1. One platform for the whole chain, from field photo to bank file. Field teams captured photos and a description per house. PUPR's building assessment and Pegadaian's property valuation landed on the same record.
  2. Compensation computed from the record, never typed. Aggregated per owner, with the berita acara and kuitansi generated by the system.
  3. Bank files generated from approved records only, so the payment list and the platform could never disagree.
  4. Progress and money out aggregated live for management, next to the shelter dashboard in Power BI that management and BNPB read without training.
  5. Every record exportable for the insurance claim audit.

What I set aside

  • A spreadsheet per team, with documents and bank lists typed by hand.
  • Custom payment rails of any kind. The banks' own wire process stayed.
  • Anything that needed training before it could be used under pressure.

What happened

The shelter dashboard was used by Pertamina management and BNPB and shown in national media. Compensation ran from registration to bank on one system. The same data carried the insurance claim audit, and years later Badan Pemeriksa Keuangan, the state audit board, audited the whole programme. It passed.

2026 Live Product

Signing Ceremony

Live at signing.muktiadi.com
Problem
At a launch event the officials sign on stage, in front of the room. The usual setup is one tablet drawing over a PDF, with misclicks, lost strokes, and the occasional signature wiped by accident while everyone watches.
Decision
A purpose-built app instead of a PDF viewer. One tablet, one laptop, one signer at a time, and every screen in the venue follows the pen. Nothing to install and nothing to delete by accident.
Result
Live, and used at real ceremonies.
Open
2021 Data & Digital Transformation

Human Capital Executive Dashboard

Launched by the VP of Human Capital
Problem
Monthly HC reporting rebuilt by hand at each refinery, with no comparable view for executives.
Decision
Build on Power BI, the tool management already opened, with KPIs refined together with the HC team rather than invented for them.
Result
Replicated at RU IV Cilacap, then adopted by head office across every refinery unit.
2024 Offline-First PWA

Saku

Live at saku.muktiadi.com
Problem
Money tracking that stops working the moment the signal drops or the app store says no.
Decision
Offline first. Data lives on the phone, syncs in the background, and the app installs from the browser without an app store.
Result
Live, with budget forecasting on top of the ledger.
Open
2025 AI & Real-Time Voice

Interview AI

Used in PFSeries candidate vetting
Problem
Screening scholarship applicants at scale without exhausting the interview panel.
Decision
Automate the screening interview, not the human one. Real-time voice in the browser on the OpenAI Realtime API, plus recorded video responses. Panel interviews stayed on Zoom on purpose.
Result
In production, and demoed live to Pertamina's CEO and President Commissioner.

Hands-On Engineering

Architecture does not stop at the screen. I design and 3D print physical parts with the same discipline I bring to systems: measure first, prototype early, iterate until it fits.

01 Design

Measure, Sketch, Model

Every part begins with precise measurement of the original, a working sketch, and a CAD model with tolerances defined before anything reaches the printer.

02 Repair

Print, Fit, Return to Service

The printed part is fitted, tested, and adjusted until the equipment works as intended. Repairing rather than replacing is continuous improvement at household scale.

Beyond Work

How I keep my problem-solving instincts sharp outside the office.

Systems Thinking Through Play

Where curiosity meets engineering

I gravitate toward games that ask for the same thinking I use at work: designing systems, tuning processes, and solving interdependent problems under constraints.

Stormworks: Build and Rescue

Autonomous ships, helicopters, and trains built from scratch, with real control logic and sensors.

Factorio

Production lines scaled with throughput analysis and continuous improvement loops. Industrial process engineering disguised as a game.

My hobby is thinking, and I do it continuously.

Relentless Iteration

Inspired by Wintergatan Wednesday

Wintergatan Wednesday follows Martin Molin building an impossibly ambitious musical marble machine from scratch. Parts break, designs prove unworkable, whole subsystems get scrapped after months of effort, and he shows up the next Wednesday anyway with the same hunger to refine and push forward. It is the most honest portrayal of engineering I have seen.

It mirrors how I work: continuous improvement is a mindset, not a methodology. Failure is fuel, and the long-term vision has to survive an unclear path.

Get in Touch

I am looking for a solutions architect or solutions engineering role with a vendor, an integrator, or a team that builds for enterprise customers. If that is what you are hiring for, I would be glad to talk.

"I build technology meant to disappear. The best systems do not demand attention. They remove friction, respect time, and support decisions quietly. I chase that moment when a complex day feels lighter, everything just works, and people can focus on what really matters."
